Thankful

I only started this blog to keep myself honest: to keep me making art during busy season, because it de-stresses me like nothing else.  (And I just found this out last fall.)

Because we all know how that goes, right?   We find something that makes us feel really great….and then we find a hundred reasons not to do that thing.  Everything (and everyone) else become sooo much more important than us taking care of ourselves.  Thus, I blogified it.  To make me do it.  And it worked!  But I had no idea that in this process, I’d find this whole community of people who produce beautiful artwork, and/or who encourage those who do….it’s been a very cool scene!   And I feel very blessed to be a part of it.

I just wanted to thank all of you who encourage and inspire me, who give me great tips and suggestions, who cheer me on and make me feel so great about what I’m trying to do, create, be, here in this world.  Really.  It means a lot.  I truly appreciate each and every one of you, more than you know!    Happy Sunday, and I hope you hug someone today.  And that they hug you right back!  Peace.

  2. Thanks Rebecca for the lovely words in your blog today keep up the good work. Recently someone asked me why I was so happy and I replied that it was because I’m doing what I have always wanted to do and that is art “creating something new everyday”. I do love your little postcards with Tombow ink and water – wonderful little abstracts of vibrant colors sure to drive the “stress” demons away!

    1. Thank you! It really does make a huge difference. Between seeing all of the work of the artists and photographers, and then feeling like I don’t wanna break my streak, it really does keep me rolling!

    1. Thanks! I can’t tell you how easy and fun these are to do. I worked all day yesterday, and did all three in less than a half hour. Those markers make it so easy, and the bright palette really has colors that leap out at you!

      1. A heartfelt thank you in return.

I do love the community. When I started “my” project I didn’t realize how, significantly, relationship would effect the work. More accurately, that relationship has become the work.

It didn’t take long before “my” project became Ours.

          1. I started Daily Record 283 days ago. Jumped into it without any records prepared in advance. I was thrilled that I made it to Day 8. And, especially thrilled now that I haven’t missed a day.

  4. Yes, I totally relate to this! I read somewhere that the more important something is to you, the more likely you are to try & avoid it – & that’s been pretty true for me. So this is *exactly* why I started my blog – to motivate myself to draw much more regularly, & it’s really worked. And the community is great!
