Quick, Quick!

I thought the horses out back would be easier to draw than my cat.

Because they graze slowly?

Slow is relative when you’re trying to draw from life.  Oh, ignore the eye….this sheet was a portrait fail.  (I rarely trash art fails.  I figure I can always collage them!)

I did get some photos, so I can try and draw them in some detail later.  They are so beautiful.  I’ve always loved horses, but seeing them with an eye to drawing them is just a totally different experience.  It’s like finally getting glasses after years of fuzzy vision!   So, considering these were all drawn in a minute or two, I’m pretty happy with them.  I am starting to feel that fast, broad strokes are the real truth, and everything else is a bit of a conjure.   Quick is good!  I plan to do more quick sketches in the future.   They ramp up the alive in me!  🙂

Enjoy a gorgeous spring Tuesday.    Yesterday was beautiful!  I’m soaking up these coolish warm temps while I can!

  1. I think drawing from life is the real deal; we’ve just got to keep at it, taking the rough with the smooth. These are a good beginning, I’m not surprised you’re pleased. Someday I’ll post up the cows I did from life (with mixed success) 🙂 .

      1. You are way ahead of me girlfriend!! Still trying to get my artist baby wings. Problem is I want to do and try so many different things. I’m a jack of all, master of none! 🙂 But that’s okay too.

        1. You’ve had the wings all your life. The challenge is opening them. (Oh sounding like the great Swamee and still preaching to myself! And I’m the same as you. I wanna try literally everything. It’s so cool. I haven’t been this excited about everyday life in a decade. 💜💛💜
