Alizarin, Actually

The red roses are in! Pink bush started last week, red this week. I couldn’t resist cutting one and bringing it in. And documenting its gorgeousness with a quick sketch in my art journal!

I was going to actually use Alizarin Crimson (watercolor) to paint it, but that idea got sidelined in favor of Inktense blocks.Β Β  The faster alternative.Β  πŸ™‚Β  Thanks also to the Micron pen for providing some needed definition.Β Β Β  (What did artists do before Micron pens?!)

  2. I rely on my Microns for definition in m8st of my work. I’ve decided it’s my style. I’ve just recently acquired some india ink and dip pens to try. I like how the inktense blocks worked for you. And Happy Anniversary, wishing you many more years of togetherness.

  3. Awww, this is such a cute post!!! Happy belated anniversary to you both!!! πŸ’πŸŒž And besides: YouΒ΄re rose is gorgeous! ItΒ΄s some kind of secret rule I guess that the quicker, the better… I think itΒ΄s because people are not under pressure when theyΒ΄re doing just a “small sketch”… I wish I could do an oil painting in that spirit… 😊🎨
