Alizarin, Actually

The red roses are in! Pink bush started last week, red this week. I couldn’t resist cutting one and bringing it in. And documenting its gorgeousness with a quick sketch in my art journal!

I was going to actually use Alizarin Crimson (watercolor) to paint it, but that idea got sidelined in favor of Inktense blocks.   The faster alternative.  🙂  Thanks also to the Micron pen for providing some needed definition.    (What did artists do before Micron pens?!)

Happy Anniversary, Hub!  26 years, and you’re still the one, my sweet!    This bud’s for you!  ❤

  2. I rely on my Microns for definition in m8st of my work. I’ve decided it’s my style. I’ve just recently acquired some india ink and dip pens to try. I like how the inktense blocks worked for you. And Happy Anniversary, wishing you many more years of togetherness.

  3. Awww, this is such a cute post!!! Happy belated anniversary to you both!!! 💐🌞 And besides: You´re rose is gorgeous! It´s some kind of secret rule I guess that the quicker, the better… I think it´s because people are not under pressure when they´re doing just a “small sketch”… I wish I could do an oil painting in that spirit… 😊🎨
