Bloom

IMG_0715

I know I have a long way to go….but the longest journey begins with the first step. Here’s to not standing still! *clink*  (Polychromos sketch in my art journal.)

I think I’d like to draw something every day in my art journal, just to gauge my progress.  Hopefully there will be some.  hehe.  Roses probably aren’t the easiest subject, but they are so inspirational.

Happy almost Friday to everyone. Enjoy the day!

  1. Roses are HARD. This is wonderful. A long time ago a lady gave me a little white cabinet that she wanted decorated with roses. Gah! Drove me crazy. Did a lot of rosebuds and gold splatters and leaves and gave it back to her and hoped I’d never have to paint another rose in this lifetime. 😄. So you better believe your rose is admired by me.

    1. Thank you, I really appreciate that. I wish I were happier with it. It’s just one of those I had to post because I had nothing else for the letter B. Why are we so critical of our own work? I struggle with this. Anyway. Thanks again. 🙂

  2. Hi Laura! I think you “picked” a difficult subject and yet captured its beauty. If I may ask, What do you dislike about it? I think it’s OK not to like everything we create. I believe it makes us better artists. I try to see my art as an experiment. This helps takes the pressure off me. Glad to hear you are enjoying your sketchbook! 😊

    1. Thanks, Jill. I appreciate your comment and thoughts. Maybe when I look at this in a month, it’ll seem closer to the actual flower to me. Could be my state of mind, as a friend is going through a really tough situation right now, and I haven’t been able to think of much else.

The nice thing about the art journal is it’s closed up inside, and no need to look back unless you want to. I definitely am enjoying it! (I’m also trying to figure out perspective right now, so lots of head scratches for me, even with video lessons. We all have those days. Maybe I need to slap my inner critic! Would probably help.)

I'd love to hear from you! Constructive criticism is most appreciated. Thank you!
