Rainy Mondays…

…don’t have to be grey when you have art in your day! Flinging joy to all of you in cyberspace this morning!

This was done in Neocolor II, and I’m not sure whether to leave it as is, or go over it with acrylics and/or soft pastels.   Maybe even colored pencil would be cool.  I’d love your thoughts!

Happy Arty Monday to all, and have a wonderful week! πŸ™‚ Peace.

  1. Leave it Laura, its as you stopped , your creative mind said ” I’m happy with this”. I have spent a week in the mountains to the West and am much closer to begin sketching…………….

  2. I haven’t started yet Laura, still just thinking but all the tools are sitting on my desk. Its 2 weeks since Charlie died and its very hard to focus. She was my shadow and I have to accept she is not there any more first.

    1. Yes, and hopefully each day will become just a bit easier, Denis. I know what you’re going through but she is out of pain and I believe our animals are watching over us once they cross. Peace to you, my friend. You will get there, and art is do transformative and healing (from my own experience).

  3. such a perfect Lauray piece for a rainy monday that feels even earlier than ever with the time change. Such a cheerful, bright, yet peaceful sight for tired eyes. Thanks for sharing. It is lovely!

        1. I hope you’ll like it but if it was better before, I also hope you’ll let me know lol. I didn’t put pastel ground on first which in hindsight I probably should have done but it added depth……now I’m wondering if it needs something else…..hehe. Oh well something to think about in the background while numbers dance in my head. πŸ™€πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜³πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ’™

    1. Thanks, Ann! It didn’t last very long yesterday before I added soft pastel on top. I’ll share tomorrow but I’m wondering now if I could put a layer of gel medium on top and then add acrylic. I’m a little concerned if I add acrylic to the chalky pastel that it might turn muddy. I’m brand new to pastel too. Have you ever seen Debora Stewart’s work? I’ve seen several of her videos on Artist Network TV (and she’s on YouTube too) and she and her work are so inspiring. Never thought I’d wanna try a chalky medium at all but her stuff really had me wanting a set of pastels. A client gave me a gift card to Blick which made me v happy and I made the most of it! I’m so glad to see you and hope we see you more often around here although it sounds like you’re v busy.

  4. Love the colors! If you love it, leave it and enjoy it as it is for now. I had a piece I really liked and thought it was finished, but after seeing it sitting on the easel for a month, I decided I wanted to change it and have started working on it again.

I'd love to hear from you! Constructive criticism is most appreciated. Thank you!
