What the World Needs Now… (World Watercolor Month, 16/31)

….is Love, sweet Love!

071616

If you have unrest in your heart or your mind, please…..pick up a pencil, a paintbrush, a camera, a guitar, create a space for joy and peace in yourself. I ask you. Take care of your self and your health, physical, mental, etc.   Find time to CREATE (everyone has 5 or 10 minutes a day, come on), and make the world a better place.    The world NEEDS what you create.   I promise you, you won’t regret it.

This painting brought to you by: Gesso resist, joy, M. Graham watercolors, peace, Golden fine pumice gel (a new favorite – more experiments to come), happiness, a 1/2″ Princeton umbria flat brush, freedom, and 140# Arches cold press. If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at watercolor, here’s how to get started for under $20.    (Note:   As a Blick Art Materials affiliate, purchases from these links help support my site and a fledgling small business.)

Honestly, people, get some freedom.    Allow yourself to play with color and water; what better time than summer is there for this?   This world needs joy and art times a thousand. We’re all counting on you!    Let’s make some peace.

  2. I really love your project today. It would make the sweetest note card. Too cute. I create edible art 3-4 times a week. Brownies, snickerdoodle bread, cookies! 😜

  3. I love the immediacy of what you do. Watercolour attracts and intimidates me. I think it would be so practical for plein air and portability. That’s a definite plus over acrylics. But acrylics are so forgiving. But if I keep watching you, I may get a little braver.

    1. Monika, just play. Play with it and it will be so much fun!! That’s my advice. I picked to acrylics by playing and that’s helped me a lot but I started with WC. WC pencils, actually! May be more comfortable way to get started? Was for me.

      1. Oh so much to say to that comment Laura…but I am gonna refrain from a diatribe and give a vague comment…it would be a much better place if people didn’t lie and I really hope those who do lie and manipulate to perpetuate their power realize that this is as good as it gets for them…so I really hope they enjoy it while it lasts. Meanwhile, I am gonna paint and take care of dirt in my own back yard.

  4. This would make such a cute thank you card or just saying hi card…something like that. Cute fabric also for like kitchen dish clothes or an outdoor table cloth. It is very cheery/homey.

      1. And as I am looking at it again, have not had a chance to read all the comments, but looks like the third heart is over a globe…like earth maybe. Was that purposeful…love around the world?

  5. I think painting for me is like meditation; it calms me and somehow focusses my mind at the same time. World watercolor month has made me paint every day and I’m realising that it’s a very good daily habit for my mental well-being!
