Day 11: Leaf Challenge? or Drunken Artist?

OK, so this wasn’t one of my better leaf paintings, but we all have those days, huh?ย ย  I think the top one is Neocolor crayons and the next is my Cotman travel palette.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Fall weekend and stays dry! Personally, this is perfect weather for so many things. All of the cozy things like reading, sewing, enjoying an old movie with someone cute…..even drawing and painting, with lots of lights added. ๐Ÿ™‚ Peace.

Day 8: Leaves a-plenty! (30 Day Leaf Challenge)

I’ve always loved fall, but I think this one is even more cool now that I’m focused on making leaf art just about every day. ๐Ÿ™‚

The top one I drew, then painted, but the bottom leaf I traced, then painted. It was curling a lot and I decided to hold it down and trace it. I do enjoy drawing though, so I probably won’t do that again. It was cool to try, though.ย ย  Both in my art journal with my Cotman palette.

Warming up for the Friday Fall Festival of Frankfurters? hehe. Nothing better. Peace.

Happy Autumn! Welcome to Day Seven of the 30 Day Leaf Challenge

HAPPY AUTUMN to my northern hemisphere friends! Let the crisp air, mulled cider and weenie roasts begin! Surprise, I painted a leaf to celebrate lol. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m really enjoying this series, and I hope you all are too. Brought to you today by my Strathmore mixed media art journal and my good ol’ faithful Cotman travel palette. ย  When Hub and I took our little leaf hunt Monday night, we were ready to turn back when he spotted a little bright red one in the middle of the road….and poof! ย  The rest is history.

Happy Wednesday to one and all – it’s all downhill from here!ย ย  Peace.

Day 4: 30 Day Leaf Challenge

I did find a few brightly colored leaves in the yard, even though the trees are mostly green. They crisp (and curl) up pretty quickly once you bring them in. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m finding the vibrant yellows and reds a bit harder to translate to watercolor paint…..maybe if I used my full (Graham) palette, vs. the Cotman travel palette, I’d have better luck. But since I paint these at night in my lap while watching TV, the travel palette is much more convenient!

I hope you have time to enjoy the crisp air and some of the joys of (almost!) fall this Sunday. Peace.

30 Days of Leaves (Day 2)!

I am loving studying and drawing/painting fall leaves. I can’t wait for the amazing rich colors; it’ll make this challenge that much more fun! I want to thank BB for issuing this challenge!

I almost didn’t post this one, because in both cases, my initial ink sketches were a bit wonky and couldn’t be erased. But I decided to go ahead! Having a great time with this!ย ย  Once again, the top painting is ink and Neocolor II crayons, and the bottom is ink and my travel Cotman watercolor palette followed by another layer with my traditional (mostly M. Graham) watercolor palette.ย  Such rich, juicy colors in the M. Graham spectrum!

Karen at Lincs in Stitches is joining in as well, and I’m so inspired by her paintings AND fabric creations. Wow, so much talent here at WordPress! ย  Speaking of talent, I haven’t forgot about the September Draw A Bird Day recap – I hope to compile that list and post it tomorrow.

I wish you all a wonderful almost-Autumn Thursday. Can’t wait for those red maple leaves! Peace.

This Tree looks like it wants to….leaf

My first watercolor tree attempt. I think. We could all use a laugh in the morning, so feel free. :))ย ย  This is neo II crayons and my Cotman travel palette of watercolors in my art journal.

At the beginning of summer, I promised myself to improve my florals by season’s end.ย  Although they’re nothing to write home about now, I do feel like there was improvement. So trees are my fall goal. And leaves! Remember BB’s 30 day leaf challenge? I’m gonna join her in that. I collected some (admittedly uninteresting) leaves on my walk today, so I’ll try drawing them later tonight.ย ย  Ours aren’t really changing yet.ย ย ย  Oh, but when they do……ooh.ย ย  I will have to post photos.

Peace and Happy Tuesday to all!
